- Yesterday's Thanksgiving dinner with KK's family went really well. All the food tasted great (although there was no pumpkin pie!!! WTF!!!) and everyone got along very well. It was quite a mixture of families...it was KK's mom and dad as well as her brother, his wife and daughter...along with the wife's mom, brother & girlfriend, sister and husband. We had a total of 12 people here and it was a fun day. Everyone was gone by 5:00 and KK and I and the parents crashed for the night in front of the tv.
- The verbal threats of Christmas Eve have turned into truth. The dealership will be open from 9:00-1:00 on Christmas Eve. Apparently they'll use a slim crew and KK says she isn't working but if the person elected to work the finance department refuses to work then she'll have to. I'm not holding my breath that she'll not work until 1:00 that afternoon!
- I went out today to do some Black Friday shopping and got a few good deals. I picked up things for about half the people on my list and finished KK's birthday gifts. I went to the local outlet mall and the stores we shop at regularly were having 50% off sales so I stocked up on alot of sweaters that KK normally wears to work for her birthday gift. I'm hoping that the Sunday paper has a few good sales too so I can get more of the shopping done.
- I have to take Bucky to the vet for his yearly check up and rabies shot. I'm supposed to take a poop sample for testing for heartworm...so guess who hasn't pooped yet today!!! I swear, he's holding it in because he knows I want it!
- I'm still fighting off this stupid cold I picked up earlier this week. I'm hoping it holds out so I am not super sick for the rest of the weekend. I felt pretty crappy yesterday but survived the day with the help of Dayquil.
- 3 more full weeks of work until holiday break. I can hardly wait!

Friday rambles

I guess it was inevitable
There are now verbal threats that KK may have to work until 3:00 on Christmas Eve.
Have I mentioned I hate her job?

The weekend
Holy cow was it another busy weekend!! Friday night KK and I went to get our haircut. Some of you might remember that KK was growing her hair out to donate to Locks of Love. Well, she decided Friday night to cut it off. 11 inches of her extremely thick hair was donated so it can be made into a wig for cancer patients. She's got a super cute shorter haircut now and is planning to grow it out again so she can donate it next year. Her hair grows SUPER fast...it only took her about a year to grow it 11 inches...so it's pretty easy for her to do it.
Sorry for the crappy photos, but they were taken with my phone which sucks for a camera!

Saturday was time for power cleaning in preparation for my family coming over for my niece's birthday. No matter what advance planning we may try to make, it always ends up that I'm stuck doing the cleaning the day of a party. I seriously think it's all part of her game to get out of vacuuming!! That night my family arrived, of course, a half hour late, and we had pizza from a local place that also makes vegan pizzas. The pizza was horrible!!! We ordered one vegan pizza and two "normal" pizzas and they all tasted awful. The sauce was horrible, the crust was nasty and all of us, except for my niece and her boyfriend, were disappointed about the food. And to make it worse, the damned things were so expensive!! Give me a Pizza Hut pizza anyday!! Despite the nasty food the night ended well. We played Wii for a couple hours and made some plans for Christmas as well as drew names for our gift exchange.
Sunday KK and I worked on organizing our closets. The one thing I hate about our house is the tiny closets. I've always had a huge closet...both the condo and my first apartment had huge walk in closets but here we have 3 small closets that are really set up poorly. So every season we have to switch over the clothes and put the other ones into storage because we're out of space. So we working on reorganizing where all the summer clothes would go and how all our winter clothes would be placed. We also reorganized the bathroom cabinet and drawers. 2 women sure can mess up a bathroom! The last areas we need to finish organizing is the office and the kitchen and we should be totally set! It felt good to get some more work done.
Now I need a nap!

Wish me luck
Tonight is going to be an interesting evening. We're celebrating my niece's 22nd birthday tonight. My niece, the vegan militant food hater. We've had so many difficulties and disagreements already in attempts to agree on food that will be served whenever she's around. We thought we solved the problem this time by agreeing to pizza. My niece, C, and her boyfriend would be able to order their vegan pizza with fake meat and cheese, and the rest of us could order what we want.
Well, my niece seems to think that we all should eat what she wants to eat instead of being able to order what we like.
I'm sorry, but I've tried her fake meat and cheese products and they are like eating sandpaper or cardboard. It's awful!!! And besides, I refuse to eat artichoke hearts and green peppers on my pizza. I don't like those vegetables so I shouldn't have to eat them.
She doesn't understand that we are tolerant of her eating habits so she should extend the same consideration to us.
So, she rambled on last night to me what type of pizzas we SHOULD order. BUT, she's not the one ordering or picking up the pizzas. I am :) So she will get her vegan, no fun pizza and we'll have our lovely pizzas covered with meat and cheese.
I'm so evil. I'm sure I'll cause WWIII but right now I really don't care. I'm paying for it, I'll eat what I want.
If you hear some screaming coming from the direction of central Wisconsin you'll know that the night didn't go well.

We must be certifiable
We are hosting two Thanksgivings this year.
Now wait, before you fall on the floor rolling in laughter, hear me out.
A month ago Thanksgiving was all straightened out. We would go to KK's parents on Thursday and then we would host my family at our house on Sunday. Well...it appears that when KK's mom organized this Thanksgiving on Thursday plan she neglected to check first with her other 2 kids to make sure they didn't have plans with their in-laws that day. KK's brother had planned to host Thanksgiving for his wife's family because his wife's sister is quite pregnant and shouldn't travel far. KK's sister was going to Milwaukee for Thanksgiving with her husband's family.
So, there were attempts to adjust my family's Thanksgiving, which didn't work out, so plan B was hatched. KK's family would come to our house on Thursday along with the people that KK's brother was also hosting. LUCKILY, we won't be cooking BOTH dinners...KK's mom will take control of everything and will be in charge of the dinner on Thursday. We'll be in charge of the dinner on Sunday for my family.
Needless to say though, we're nuts for hosting both families this year. KK works 12 hours days most of the week so the majority of the cleaning will fall to me (which is no big deal but damn do I hate vacuuming!). Plus, KK's mom will move her ENTIRE kitchen here to cook because she seems to think that neither of us have the capability of boiling water. It sounds like there will be between 12-15 people here for KK's family on Thursday and at least 10 for my family and that could be more if the nieces and nephew bring their significant others.
Oy am I in for a long weekend. I'll need the next week just to recover!!

Time to step it up
Ugh, I feel so fat lately. I hate this feeling of sluggishness and general laziness. I hate trying on 5 outfits before choosing one that doesn't make me look fat. I hate the fact that I can't dry my jeans in the dryer because then they won't fit comfortably. I dread the upcoming holidays because of looking like crap in photos. I hate staring at the candy wrappers from the leftover halloween candy I just ate.
I need to step it up. I need to go back to counting points. I need to get my ass back to the gym. I need to stop using the fact that I eat by myself as an excuse to get fast food for dinner. I hate using "I had a rough day" as an excuse to treat myself to candy or brownies. I hate that I'm back to drinking a ton of soda when I had done such a good job of cutting it out.
I talk big, but it's the action that I need to have happen.

My first experience with intolerant assholes
Today KK and I went to urgent care to get her some medication. She has started to relapse back into the cold she had 2 weeks ago so we figured she now has the same sinus infection I had. So we head to our local urgent care and hang out with all the sick babies and injured people waiting for her name to be called.
We head back when the nurse calls her name and go through all the typical medical checks. It has never been an issue for me to accompany her to any of her appointments...her doctors all recognize me and often address me instead of her because they know she doesn't listen :) So, the nurse didn't blink as I headed back with her and sat in the examination room.
About 10 minutes later, in comes the doctor. Now, remember, this is not her normal physician...this is some unlucky guy who drew the short straw to have to work urgent care on a weekend. He introduces himself and immediately asks if I'm a friend. We say yes, and then he kicks me out. He informs me that I will have to wait outside for her. I pass a look to KK, thinking she'll say something, and then walk out to wait in the hallway. I guess once I left she told him that I was her partner. After about 5 minutes he comes back in the hallway and sees me and says that I'll have to wait in the waiting room for her! WTF! I cop a bit of attitude and that's when he asks if I was her partner, and I say yes and inform him that I've never been asked to leave before. He then tells me that this is personal medical information that he's discussing with her and that he asks even married people to wait outside...almost like he's trying to justify his being an asshole.
So I storm out and wait for her in the lobby as she gets dressed. Apparently she let him have it after I walked out and he again tried to justify his asking me to leave. But, what really chapped my ass was the fact that he didn't discuss ANY medical information with her...the nurse did. She's the one that took her blood pressure and went over symptoms, etc. All he did was listen to her lungs and write her a prescription.
I was so irate that he acted like such an ass to both me and her. We've never once had an issue with either of us accompanying each other to appointments.
So, I'm curious...you married people...have you been asked to leave a medical appointment of your spouse? Or am I overly protective for going with her in the first place?

Out of the mouths of kids
Kids constantly crack me up with what comes out of their mouths. Yesterday a little boy in my class had me laughing in the hallway. Each Friday I sent home a backpack with a different kid which has a stuffed animal, a bunch of books and some writing projects that they can work on at home. This year's bag is pretty big because of the size of the stuffed animal. Well, I sent it home with C yesterday and as he was packing up he put my backpack on his back and his own backpack on his front. Then he looked at me and said, "I'm a human turtle!"
I could hardly stop laughing.
I could hardly stop laughing.

Why is it...
when daylight savings time ends, and you can set the clock back and sleep in, do I wake up at 7 am?!?!? I was all primed to sleep in yesterday and we even let the dog sleep with us so we wouldn't have to listen to him whining in his kennel. And boom, 7:00 am rolls around and I'm wide awake. So by 9:00 pm I was ready to crash on the couch.
Dammit!
Dammit!
